Kenko Corporation was founded in 1965. Since its inception, Kenko has made every possible effort to expand its industrial and specialty chemicals operation globally.
In 1989, Chemco Industries, Inc.--the core business supporting our U.S. marketing strategy--was founded in Los Angeles, California. Chemco specializes in food chemicals, phytochemicals and nutraceuticals for the U.S. nutrition and dietary supplement market.
In October 1994, seeing a viable and logical opportunity to further our commitment to the U.S. market, Kenko established Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. (SGTI), a soft gelatin encapsulator, based in Los Angeles. Our expansion into the manufacturing side of the business underscores our commitment to offering the finest products and materials to the nutraceutical industry. SGTI enjoys an international reputation as a reliable and responsible manufacturer who provides the highest levels of service and support.
We have noted the rapid growth of the markets in China, India and Russia, especially in the development of industrial chemical and commercial food chemical products. Realizing the potential of this particular business, we established local branch offices and joint ventures in all three of these countries. These branch offices have already achieved their initial goal of developing business in specialized and unique fields. Our primary objective is to continue our expansion of these venues, so that they serve as a driving force of our global corporation. In particular, we are actively investing
in China by setting up joint venture companies for food chemical and plastic processing industries. This strengthens our position as a reliable manufacturer and supplier of quality products, and increases our visibility as a reputable group of companies in a worldwide marketplace.
Asia’s rapid development in the manufacturing sector has created a strong position for them in the world economy. Several global businesses have shifted their manufacturing strategies by constructing numerous production facilities in Asian countries. In order to survive in this market, we felt that it was critical for us to establish a unique and strong position in the Asian market.
